La construcción de la Iglesia de San Dámaso se inició en la primera mitad del siglo XVII y no se concluyó hasta el siglo siguiente.
El coro tiene un retablo notable de talla dorada , obra del tallista de Guimarães Pedro Coelho, y el techo es de casetones. La nave también está decorada con retablos de estilo portugués de finales del siglo XVII y principios del XVIII. La talla en madera combina perfectamente con los azulejos históricos que decoran el interior. Fueron realizados en la primera mitad del siglo XVIII, se atribuyen al monogramista PMP y representan episodios de la vida del Papa San Dámaso .
