Bolhrad , a veces conocida como Bolgrad, es una pequeña ciudad en el Óblast de Odesa del sudeste de Ucrania. Centro administrativo del raión homónimo.
Bolhrad fue fundada en 1821 por colonos búlgaros bajo la dirección del General Ivan Inzov, que es "venerado" por los residentes de Bolhrad como el "Fundador de nuestra ciudad".[1] Bolhrad formó parte del Moldavia entre 1856 a 1859, de Rumania entre 1859 a 1878 y de 1918 a 1940, y entre 1941 a 1944 antes de ser incluida en el territorio de la República Socialista Soviética de Ucrania y la luego independiente Ucrania.
