Le pont, avec ses 365 m de longueur, est le plus long pont de Belgique et la dernière liaison terrestre permanente au-dessus de l'eau vers la mer. À gauche et à droite du chenal navigable, une règle sur les piliers indique la hauteur du pont par rapport au niveau de l'eau. Du côté de Temse, se trouvent deux statues monumentales : "L'Escaut" et "Les Vagues", sculptées par Karel Aubroeck.
