Le Taaienberg est une ascension vicieuse de 800 mètres avec des pavés. Il est protégé en tant que monument depuis 1995. Cette ascension fait invariablement partie du parcours des classiques printanières qui visitent Maarkedal. Le Taaienberg est aussi populairement appelé Boonenberg parce que Tom Boonen a toujours testé ses propres jambes ici mais aussi celles de la concurrence.
