Le roman le plus célèbre de Boon a été nommé d'après ce chemin. La Kapellekensbaan est l'endroit où le personnage principal, Ondine, est né et a grandi. Autrefois, trois maisons de travailleurs se trouvaient à droite de la chapelle. La maison du milieu, un 'Estaminet', était aux yeux de Boon la maison où Ondine vivait avec son frère et ses parents, et où les clés de la chapelle de Termuren étaient conservées.
