Diksmuide a 14 communes rurales. Chaque village a sa propre église paroissiale et un caractère rural qui dégage un certain charme sur les villages policiers. Il y a des joyaux artistiques parmi eux. Une exception est l'église orthodoxe colorée du Monastère selon le rite russe près d'Oostkerke. L'abbé, le père Thomas, explique leur rite et les nombreuses icônes. Une tenue correcte est souhaitée.
