Jusque il y a quelques années, les étangs ici étaient encore des étangs de culture pour plantes aquatiques. Après l'achat, l'association de la nature Limburgs Landschap vzw a aménagé les étangs afin de créer plus de valeur naturelle. Les rives des étangs ont été rendues plus en pente et les boues ont été retirées des fonds d'étang. Ainsi, un petit complexe d'étangs a vu le jour avec des zones de marais et des transitions naturelles. Le long des rives, des roselières larges poussent maintenant. Ces roselières sont très appréciées par de nombreux oiseaux, pensez par exemple au roul roul bleu et à l'heron pour nicher.
