Dans la Molenstraat, à côté du pont sur la Mark, se trouve la Laermolen magnifiquement restaurée. Avant 1381, un moulin à eau appelé ‘Laermolen’ se tenait à cet endroit (’Het Laer‘ = un pré marécageux non cultivé). Au départ, il s'agissait uniquement d'un moulin à grains. Plus tard, il fut également question d'un moulin à marteaux ou d'un moulin à huile pour écraser des graines oléagineuses. Au fil des ans, le moulin a été détruit et reconstruit plusieurs fois. Quelques enthousiastes de Hoogstraten, réunis au sein de l'association sans but lucratif De Laermolen, ont restauré ce moulin entre 2000 et 2004 à sa gloire passée. Même la roue à eau tourne à nouveau.
