En décembre 2003, la municipalité de Scuol, dans le canton des Grisons, dans l'est de la Suisse, a annoncé qu'elle nommerait un sommet de montagne jusqu'alors inconnu en l'honneur de la princesse héritière néerlandaise Catharina-Amalia Beatrix Carmen Victoria. A l'occasion du baptême de la princesse héritière Amalia, le sommet de la montagne a été «inauguré» le 4 juin 2004 par le maire de Scuol et l'ambassadeur des Pays-Bas en Suisse. Le Piz Amalia (2918 m) se situe entre le Piz d'Astras (2980 m) et le Piz Mezdi (2882 m).
