À première vue, le Buchheim Museum fait penser à la Fallingwater House, la réalisation moderniste de larchitecte Frank Lloyd Wright. Cela est dû sans doute au fort débordement des plates-formes, qui saute immédiatement aux yeux. Mais la comparaison ne va pas plus loin. On a en tous cas essayé de créer un bâtiment moderne adéquat pour héberger les oeuvres expressionnistes du mouvement Die Brücke (1905-1913). La tentative mérite en soi tous les éloges.
