Le casino de Travemünde était jusqu'en 2012 l'un des plus anciens casinos d'Allemagne. Un premier casino officiel a été ouvert à Travemünde en 1825.
Joachim Christian Grube, copropriétaire du restaurant depuis 1808, a établi un casino dans la maison d'hôtes qui appartenait au Dr med. Danzmann depuis 1816. Après que Danzmann a vendu à Grube en 1820, ce dernier est devenu l'opérateur unique. Grube a à son tour vendu ses biens développés en 1833 pour 116 300 marks courants à Heinrich Behrens.
