Colmberg est située à la limite avec l'arrondissement de Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim, sur le cours supérieur de l'Altmühl, affluent du Danube, dans le Parc naturel Frankenhöhe, à 16 km au nord-ouest d'Ansbach, sur la route des Châteaux .
