La Ems est une rivière qui coule à travers le nord-ouest de l'Allemagne et borde le nord-est des Pays-Bas via le Dollard et l'Ems occidentale. Elle prend sa source dans la Senne (près de la forêt de Teutobourg en Allemagne, près de Bielefeld) et se jette dans la mer du Nord via le Dollard et la mer des Wadden. La Ems mesure 371 kilomètres de long, dont 238 kilomètres sont navigables.
