Le site du château de Wichsenstein est le vestige d'un château fort disparu sur un rocher escarpé surplombant le village de Wichsenstein dans l'arrondissement de Forchheim en Bavière. Le château a complètement disparu, aucune trace ne témoigne de son existence, le rocher du château sert de point de vue.
Le site du château de la Gipfelburg est situé dans la zone centrale de la Suisse franconienne, une partie du massif du Jura de Franconie, sur le monument naturel du rocher de Wichsenstein, une cime montagneuse d'environ 587 m d'altitude au nord du village de Wichsenstein, à environ 20 mètres au-dessus du village et à environ 60 mètres au nord-nord-ouest de l'église paroissiale catholique Saint-Erhard et à environ 15 kilomètres au nord-est de Forchheim.
