L'église évangélique-luthérienne Maria-Magdalena se trouve à Fulkum, un endroit dans la commune de Holtgast, qui fait partie de la commune de Esens en Frise orientale. Le lieu de culte a été consacré en 1862.
Sur l'élévation artificielle de l'église, trois constructions en bois ont été prouvées. Celles-ci remontent au 12ème siècle. À cette époque, la moitié est de l'élévation actuelle de l'église a été remblayée avec un tas de sable d'environ 2,5 mètres de haut. Cela a constitué la plateforme de construction pour la première église, qui a ensuite été détruite par un incendie. Le bâtiment de remplacement a également été construit en bois. Il avait une largeur d'environ 4 mètres et est également devenu la proie des flammes. Au cours du 12ème siècle, l'élévation de l'église a été surélevée et un nouvel édifice en bois a été construit.
