Vers 1200, une église romane a été construite à la même place et placée sous la protection de saint Vitus, dont le nom a été attribué au lieu. De cette construction, la tour a été conservée.
La nef a été remplacée à la fin du 17e siècle par une église en salle rectangulaire avec un chœur gothisant et une façade représentative. La façade du portail présente des formes du baroque romain.
