Le Kopf de Pferd est un éperon sud-ouest de la Wasserkuppe dans la Rhön, culminant à 874,9 m au-dessus du niveau de la mer. Il se situe près de Poppenhausen dans le district de Fulda en Hesse et est d'origine volcanique.
Le Kopf de Pferd se trouve dans le parc naturel de la Hessische Rhön et dans la réserve de biosphère de la Rhön. Son sommet est situé à 1,9 km au sud d'Abtsroda, 2,1 km au nord-ouest d'Obernhausen, 4,5 km au nord de Gersfeld, 2,9 km au nord de Schachen, 3,1 km au nord-nord-est de Maiersbach, 3,8 km à l'est-nord-est de Poppenhausen et 2,1 km au sud-est de Tränkhof ; immédiatement au sud-ouest se trouvent les hameaux de Poppenhausen, Schwarzerden et Kohlstöcken. Les montagnes voisines comprennent la Wasserkuppe avec la Kuppe d'Abtsroda au nord-est et l'Eubeberg au sud.
