Brocken est la station la plus haute de la Harzer Schmalspurbahnen (gare). La gare est le terminus de la Brockenbahn et a été ouverte pour la première fois en 1899.
En 1961, la gare a été fermée pendant un certain temps, en raison de la zone frontalière de la RDA. Seuls les soldats de l’Union soviétique étaient autorisés à entrer dans la gare. En 1991, la station Brocken a été rouverte au public. Depuis 1993, 11 trains HSB circulent quotidiennement en été. En hiver, il y a maintenant 6 à un maximum de 9 trains vers le Brocken chaque jour. Cependant, cela n’était pas possible jusqu’à présent en raison des fortes chutes de neige, ce qui a obligé la Brockenbahn à être fermée pendant les mois d’hiver.
