Avec ses jardins botaniques, l'Université rhénane Frédéric-Guillaume de Bonn entretient un
des jardins botaniques les plus anciens et les plus traditionnels de l'Allemagne. Sous le mot d'ordre
Explorer, Conserver, Expliquer, Vivre, environ 11 000 espèces de plantes sont cultivées sur environ 12 ha.
Les installations sont réparties sur trois sites, le jardin historique du château entourant le château Clemensruh à Bonn-Poppelsdorf constituant la plus grande et la plus connue des parties. Il y a également le jardin public pour la collection spéciale de plantes utiles ainsi que le jardin Melb, non public, sur le Venusberg.
