Le camp annexe de Schlieben était un camp annexe du camp principal de concentration de Buchenwald. Il a été construit en 1938 à la périphérie de la localité de Schlieben dans le quartier de Berga et servait à l'entreprise d'armement « Hasag Hugo Schneider AG » comme fournisseur de prisonniers pour le travail forcé. Dans un camp de concentration, la SS pouvait « louer » les prisonniers à des entreprises pour une somme forfaitaire.
La troisième plus grande entreprise d'armement allemande, Hasag Hugo Schneider AG, a établi en 1938 un site de production d'armement à Schlieben. Celui-ci était destiné à la fabrication de munitions. De plus, sur ordre du Haut Commandement de l'Armée, un champ de tir pour des tests de munitions a été construit. La zone couvrait environ 390 hectares.
