Le Tannenberg était un quartier général du Führer d'Adolf Hitler, situé dans les forêts au sommet du Kniebis, une montagne de 960 mètres d'altitude dans la Forêt Noire. Le village voisin de Kniebis est nommé d'après la montagne. Le complexe a été construit en 1939 sur commande de l'Organisation Todt par plusieurs entrepreneurs locaux dans le cadre des préparatifs pour l'invasion allemande de la France.
