Le château de Kransberg est un château situé dans le quartier de Kransberg de la ville d'Usingen, dans le district de Hochtaunus en Hesse, à environ 30 kilomètres au nord de Francfort-sur-le-Main et à environ 50 kilomètres au nord-est de Wiesbaden.
Dans la région, un soi-disant tribunal de campagne existait depuis longtemps, mentionné dans des documents écrits dès le 7e siècle. Il se trouvait à seulement 500 m en ligne droite de l'emplacement de l'actuel château, sur une colline où se trouve encore aujourd'hui une chapelle. Au 11e siècle, une simple fortification était exploitée dans la région de l'actuel château, probablement au même endroit stratégiquement avantageux.
