Le village se trouve sur le versant est de la vallée de l'Iller, à environ 2 km au nord d'Illertissen. À l'est se trouve l'ancien village, à l'ouest s'étendent les zones d'habitation, parfois un peu séparées. Le ruisseau Schwärzlegraben et le ruisseau Krautgartengraben naissent dans ou près du village et se rejoignent au nord pour former le Mauchegraben.
Betlinshausen était déjà un lieu de pèlerinage populaire à la fin du Moyen Âge. L'église Saint-Jean-Baptiste avec ses petits dômes remonte à l'époque baroque.
