C'était la maison de Rodrigo de Bastidas, qui fut le fondateur de plusieurs villes d'Amérique du Sud. Le bâtiment de 3 000 mètres carrés se construit autour d'une cour centrale rectangulaire. La maison compte de longs couloirs qui relient la cour par une multitude d'arcs romains.
Pendant plus d'un siècle, la maison a été habitée par les descendants de Rodrigo Bastidas, puis a été utilisée par diverses institutions gouvernementales, c'est pourquoi elle abrite maintenant le Musée de l'Enfant Dominicain.
