Le château d'Agèr était un lieu très convoité en raison de son emplacement stratégique. Il existe des indications que des structures étaient déjà présentes ici avant l'an 0. La construction de ce château a commencé au XIe siècle, sur les vestiges d'un mur d'origine islamique et romaine.
