Ils ont été fondés le 18 juillet 1964, avec Jesús Aparicio-Bernal Sánchez comme directeur général de la Radiodiffusion et de la Télévision, pour remplacer l'ancien siège de TVE, situé au Paseo de la Habana de Madrid, et inauguré par Francisco Franco. Son Studio 1 avait une surface de 1 200 mètres carrés, ce qui en faisait l'un des plus grands plateaux du monde à l'époque. Depuis 1965, il a également accueilli la production de la Deuxième Chaîne. En 1971, le siège central de Radio Nacional d'Espagne a été transféré là-bas, dans une dépendance annexe de l'immeuble principal qui a été appelée la Maison de la radio.
