Contrairement au profil élégant et tranquille des plages d'Ondarreta et de La Concha, la plage de La Zurriola s'est imposée comme une plage au profil plus jeune et appropriée pour le surf (c'est la plage la plus ouverte avec les vagues les plus fortes de la ville) et comme le lieu de certains concerts du Festival de Jazz de Saint-Sébastien et de compétitions de Bodyboarding, de surf, de skateboard et d'événements similaires.
