Chauvigny est une commune du Centre-Ouest de la France, située dans le département de la Vienne en région Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Ses habitants sont appelés les Chauvinois.
Quatrième agglomération du département derrière Poitiers, Châtellerault et Loudun, Chauvigny doit l'essentiel de sa renommée à son important patrimoine médiéval. Juchés sur un promontoire rocheux commandant les vallées de la Vienne et du Talbat, pas moins de cinq châteaux forment un ensemble fortifié de premier plan, peu commun en Europe.
