Sallanches est une commune française, située dans le département de la Haute-Savoie en région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
La ville occupe la partie nord du bassin de Sallanches, large plaine glaciaire traversée par l'Arve et bordée par le massif des Aravis, le massif du Mont-Blanc et le massif du Faucigny. Ce vaste bassin aux versants peu raides contraste avec les hauts sommets qui l'entourent. Dédié principalement à l'agriculture et au tourisme , il abrite aussi les communes de Domancy, Passy et Saint-Gervais-les-Bains.
