Gambsheim, Gambse en alsacien , est une commune française située dans la circonscription administrative du Bas-Rhin et, depuis le 1er janvier 2021, dans le territoire de la Collectivité européenne d'Alsace, en région Grand Est.
Gambsheim, avec ses 1 736 hectares, fait partie des agglomérations du Ried du Nord qui s’égrènent le long du Rhin. La commune est éloignée de 18 km de la capitale alsacienne Strasbourg et de 1 km du fleuve le Rhin. Son altitude oscille entre 128 et 131 mètres au-dessus du niveau de la mer. Au dernier recensement, le bourg comptait plus de 4 500 habitants. Le risque de conurbation entre Gambsheim, Kilstett et la Wantzenau est élevé selon l'ADEUS.
