La Maddalena est une commune de la province de Sassari en Sardaigne en Italie. La commune accueille le parc national de l'archipel de La Maddalena.
En 1803 l'amiral Horatio Nelson, au cours de sa campagne en Méditerranée visant à assurer le blocus de Toulon, fit relâcher son escadre dans la Rada di Mezzo Schifo, une baie de la côte sarde couverte au nord par l'archipel de La Maddalena. En 1887, le rôle de La Maddalena est officialisé comme fort militaire et une base navale est utilisée par les forces armées italiennes.
