Campo Imperatore est une vaste haute-plaine, située entre 1 600 et 1 800 mètres d'altitude, dans le massif des Apennins, près du Gran Sasso, dans la province de L’Aquila, dans les Abruzzes. Elle est longue de 20 km, et large jusqu'à 7 km.
Cette haute-plaine est totalement plate, inhabitée et sans arbre, c'est pourquoi on l'appelle souvent le Petit Tibet. Elle est fermée sur ses quatre côtés. Les principales montagnes qui l'entourent sont le Monte Camicia , le Monte Prena , le Monte Aquila , le Monte Scindarella et le Monte Bolza .
