En 1910 - et pas avant -, les bénédictins de Saint-Maurice et Saint-Maur érigèrent ici une imposante abbaye néo-romane dont la tour couverte de tuiles rouges domine le centre urbain et contraste vivement avec le vert du paysage environnant. Labbaye fut conçue comme un hommage à celle de Cluny, en Bourgogne. Clervaux a connu un événement historique: en 1798, les paysans de la région se rebellèrent contre la domination française. Ce fait est évoqué par un monument près de labbaye.
