La construction de la tour a commencé le 28 juillet 1574. En 1666 et 1683, la tour a été affectée par un incendie et depuis lors, elle est restée sans toit.
La tour a un plan de sol carré en forme de prisme solide avec huit étages et mesure 57 mètres de haut. La tour dispose d'une galerie panoramique à 29 mètres au-dessus du niveau du sol. Les coins et le plus haut étage sont décorés d'un sgraffite en forme de diamant. Du côté sud-ouest se trouve un cadran solaire. Dans l'alcove au-dessus de l'entrée se trouve un relief circulaire, symbole du Christ.
