La bataille de Chancellorsville fut une des plus importantes batailles de la guerre de Sécession en 1863.
Aussi surnommée « Lee's perfect battle » à cause de sa tactique, risquée mais victorieuse, de diviser ses forces face à un ennemi largement supérieur en nombre.
La bataille mettait aux prises l'armée du Potomac commandée par le major général Joseph Hooker et l'armée de Virginie du Nord, moitié plus petite, commandée par le général Robert E. Lee assisté de "Stonewall" Jackson. L'audace de Lee combinée à l'indécision de Hooker aboutirent à une défaite très sérieuse de l'Union.
