L’anello Obersee nella valle Defereggen posteriore è piuttosto breve, ma si trova a circa 2.000 metri sul livello del mare ed è quindi perfetto per l'allenamento in alta quota. È preparato per gli skater e lo sci di fondo classico e conduce in un percorso circolare all'idilliaco Obersee, sulla cui sponda occidentale si trova l'Alpengasthof Obersee, aperto anche in inverno. Un po' più in alto si trova la Sella Staller, che offre una vista sulla Valle Aurina in Alto Adige.
L’anello parte dal posto di svolta dello skibus sulla strada provinciale della Defereggental in direzione della Sella Staller. Con diverse curve e tornanti, corre verso l'Obersee e l'Alpengasthaus Obersee sulla sponda opposta. La via del ritorno al punto di partenza è per lo più parallela a quella dell’andata.
