Non cercare un legame tra Zonnebeke e il sole; nel 1072 il nome del villaggio era infatti Sinnebecche. Dopo i devastanti bombardamenti della Prima Guerra Mondiale, la chiesa di Nostra Signora è stata ricostruita e consacrata nel 1924. La chiesa, con un tetto in calcestruzzo armato, è considerata la prima chiesa moderna in questo paese.
Nel 2004 è stato inaugurato il Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917, come successore del precedente Museo Regionale. Come visitatore, verrai guidato attraverso le cinque battaglie che si sono svolte attorno a Ypres. Oltre a una vasta collezione di fotografie, sono esposti anche oggetti storici e puoi scendere in un 'dug-out' britannico o in una trincea tedesca.
