Diets-Heur è stato citato per la prima volta nel 1258 come Eure, noto anche come: Ora Teutonica. Il significato di Eure è sconosciuto, il prefisso Diets si riferisce a: una lingua germanica parlata, oggi olandese, a differenza di Heure-le-Romain, situato a 15 km di distanza, nel comune di Oupeye, dove si parla una lingua romanza, oggi francese.
