Léglise è nella sua forma attuale emersa il 1° gennaio 1977 dalla fusione di 5 comuni, a loro volta suddivisi in 28 villaggi e frazioni, che in precedenza avevano ciascuno il proprio carattere e le proprie abitudini. Dalla precedente municipalità di Anlier, è stata annessa alla fusione anche la frazione di Louftémont. Il comune conta oltre 5.000 abitanti ed è con soli 30 abitanti per km² uno dei comuni meno popolati del Belgio. Léglise è attraversata da un’autostrada e ha un collegamento con l’autostrada E25/E411.
