Assent è un villaggio nella provincia belga di Brabante Fiammingo ed è una frazione del comune di Bekkevoort. È stato un comune autonomo dal 1922, quando è stato separato dal comune di Kaggevinne-Assent, fino a quando è stato fuso nel comune di Bekkevoort nel 1977. L'origine del nome Assent non è sufficientemente conosciuta. Carnoy spiega il nome come: terra di raccolto. Lindemans considera la forma Asnôth come sinonimo di bath: bagno. Il nome Hasnoch è stato menzionato in un atto dell'838. Un nobile, di nome Hotbert, donò all'abbazia di Sint-Truiden i suoi beni a "Hasnoch super fluvio MERBATO in pago Hasbaniensi sive Diostiensi".
