Ouwegem è un villaggio nella provincia belga dell'Oost-Vlaanderen e una frazione di Kruisem. Il villaggio conta circa 1500 abitanti. Ouwegem si trova ai margini delle Ardenne Fiamminghe. Il nome Ouwegem deriva dalla famiglia germanica di un certo Aldo; era l'Aldinger-heem, letteralmente il luogo di residenza della famiglia di Aldo, ed è già stato menzionato come tale nell'anno 830. Tuttavia, la storia dell'insediamento è più antica, poiché sono stati trovati resti di abitazioni risalenti all'epoca romana.
