Galmaarden è un luogo e comune nel Pajottenland, provincia di Fiandre Brabante in Belgio. Il comune comprende, oltre a Galmaarden, anche le frazioni di Tollembeek e Vollezele e conta oltre 8800 abitanti. La prima menzione di Galmaarden appare nel documento di fondazione di Geraardsbergen del 1068. Il territorio di Galmaarden si trovava, dai tempi carolingi fino all'undicesimo secolo, nella Brabanzia. Poi il conte di Hainaut, che si trovava a sud dell'Hena, conquistò una parte della Brabanzia. All'interno della contea di Hainaut, Galmaarden apparteneva alla castellania di Aat.
