Wannegem è un villaggio nella provincia belga di Fiandre Orientali. Insieme a Lede forma il Wannegem-Lede, una municipalità di Kruisem. Wannegem era una municipalità autonoma all'inizio del XIX secolo e costituisce la parte occidentale della municipalità. Il luogo è già stato menzionato nel XII e XIII secolo. Il vecchio nome ha i suffissi -inga e -heem, e significa letteralmente abitazione delle persone di Wanhand. Il luogo dipendeva amministrativamente dalla contea di Oudenaarde. In ambito ecclesiastico, Wannegem apparteneva alla diocesi di Tournai e dal 1559 alla diocesi di Gand, creata in quello stesso anno.
