Il paesino Bettenhoven (Bettincourt) si trova in Haspengouw, attualmente frazione di Borgworm nella provincia di Liegi, nel qual caso l'etimologia potrebbe riferirsi alla fattoria di Bettingen (famiglia Betto). Per essere sicuri, puoi anche festeggiare Ludwig van Beethoven qui.
Il nome Beethoven è anche collegato al significato "origine originale di una fattoria di barbabietole" (secondo B. Cooper). Ma non è corretto. Il nome Beethoven o Bettehoven esiste sin dai primi tempi medievali, ma le fattorie di barbabietole esistono -non solo lì- solo a partire dal XIX secolo, dopo la nascita del compositore. Quindi l'ipotesi di Cooper ha già avuto il suo tempo. Anche nel XIV secolo troviamo una coppia 'van Roost - van Beethoven' (per citarne due adiacenti) nella contea meridionale di Loon.
