I comuni di Aalst, Baardegem, Meldert, Moorsel e Herdersem costituiscono insieme la cosiddetta regione di Faluintjes. Il nome è tratto dall'omonima area naturale, che si estende tra l'Abbazia di Affligem e Moorsel. A turno, ogni anno nell'ultimo weekend di luglio, i comuni di Faluintjes organizzano il famoso festival della raccolta De Pikkeling. Questa festa popolare attira ogni anno migliaia di visitatori e offre folklore nazionale e internazionale, dimostrazioni di macchine per la raccolta e antichi rituali di raccolta, musica tradizionale e gastronomia locale.
