Il cimitero di Reningelst e l'‘Extension’ furono utilizzati da marzo 1915 fino all'apertura del ‘New Military Cemetery’ nel novembre 1915. La metà dei caduti sepolti nell'‘Extension’ morì a Hill 60 a Zillebeke dopo il tentativo delle truppe tedesche di rioccupare la collina artificiale con il gas clorino il 1 maggio 1915. La 5ª divisione dell'esercito britannico resistette, ma oltre 300 soldati dovettero essere trasferiti in una delle ‘Field Ambulances’ dietro il fronte.
