Il Piccolo Seminario, una delle più antiche scuole del Belgio, aprì le sue porte in questo luogo nel 1806. Durante la guerra, gli edifici furono utilizzati come ospedale tedesco.

Non molto tempo dopo l'inizio previsto dell'anno scolastico, gli edifici furono utilizzati per ospitare soldati tedeschi. Inizialmente si trattava di soldati degli Alleati, ma ben presto gli edifici scolastici divennero un ospedale tedesco.
La guerra rende impossibile l'insegnamento
Non solo il Piccolo Seminario fu occupato dagli occupanti tedeschi. Tutti i conventi a Roeselare furono confiscati e utilizzati come ospedali. Anche le altre scuole della città furono requisiti.
