L'offensiva delle Ardenne fu l'ultima grande offensiva strategica tedesca sul fronte occidentale durante la seconda guerra mondiale. Il nome in codice assegnato dalla Wehrmacht era originariamente "operazione Wacht am Rhein" , ideato per nascondere la natura offensiva dell'operazione. Successivamente, nel dicembre del 1944, l'operazione fu rinominata per motivi di sicurezza "Herbstnebel" .
