Il famoso e importante fiume ardennese Ourthe è formato dalla confluenza dell'Ourthe occidentale e dell'Ourthe orientale. Questa confluenza è sbarrata e forma così il lago artificiale di Nisramont. L'Ourthe occidentale nasce nei pressi di Libramont, scorre verso nord-est in direzione di Amberloup e prosegue verso Lavacherie, dove inizia a penetrare profondamente nelle grandi foreste tra Saint-Hubert e La Roche-en-Ardenne.
