Il luppolo e la produzione di birra sono indissolubilmente legati. In questo luogo si trovava in passato il birrificio Goossens. Il birrificio esisteva già nel XVIII secolo e rimase attivo fino al 1928. L'ultimo birraio, Camille Goossens, era anche sindaco del villaggio.
Durante la Prima Guerra Mondiale, l'occupante tedesco confiscò il rame del birrificio, comprese le caldaie di produzione. Dopo una breve ripresa, la produzione fu definitivamente interrotta. Dal 2017 è stato trasformato in Hof Den Tuitelaar.
